Volunteering with MYMCA

Our volunteers and participants are the heart of our operations at YMCA Manningham. If you want to make a contribution to your community with our support, learn new skills and have fun, contact us and become a volunteer in the Manningham community today!

What is volunteering?
Volunteering is the provision of time for free, giving back to your community in varied forms. It's a great way to stay engaged with society and help others.

Volunteering is a fundamental building block of civil society, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Volunteering, 2001. It brings the noblest aspirations of humankind to life – the pursuit of peace, freedom, opportunity, safety, and justice for all people. Volunteering is an essential part of all societies, making real the declaration of the United Nations that "We, the Peoples" have the power to change the world (IAVE).

Why volunteer?
Individuals from all walks of life volunteer for varied reasons and in varied forms. From retirees to students, people who enjoy social connection, supporting their community and learning new skills gain great satisfaction from helping others.

Who can volunteer with MYMCA?
All young people who live, work, study and play in the Manningham region who want to make a positive impact on the area are encouraged to join the MYMCA team.

Our Programs

The Manningham Young Leaders is a great way to get involved in community action.

Giving you the opportunity to work with other young people to address issues like mental health, bullying, equality and sustainability. The Youth Empowerment Projects facilitate creative youth-led projects that respond to issues and needs as they emerge. If you have an idea you'd like to develop further we'd love to hear from you!

Opportunities in our All Abilities Programs, such as Y-Exercise and the DAAB offer volunteers to guide and support program participants during school terms.

There are also many arts, sport and rec programs and events (such as Freeza) where we periodically need volunteers to help out with event set up, supervision and joining in the fun.

Youth Mentoring is a great way to volunteer your time if you're passionate about supporting and empowering young people.
