Health & Fitness
The YMCA is a known leader in health and fitness across the world and for good reason. We have been encouraging exercise, creating new sports activities & programs and promoting an active healthy lifestyle for over 160 years.
Our commitment to the total development of people in body, mind and spirit is as strong as ever today. This idea dates back to 1891 when YMCA physical education teacher Luther Gulick created the red triangle logo. Each side of that triangle contained the words body, mind and spirit signifying that all sides are equally important and essential to achieve overall wellbeing.
Today we work as part of a national movement of 26 independent YMCA Associations across Australia and this timeless concept is still used today in everything that we do.
This mission led to the YMCA Manningham being first formed as an independent association in 1992 to manage the new aquatic and recreation centre “Aquarena” in the City of Manningham.
Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre is one of the largest wet and dry recreation facilities in Victoria. Located on Williamson’s road Doncaster, the centre enjoys nearly one million visits per year.
Situated on over eight acres of landscaped gardens with indoor and outdoor heated pools, health club, group exercise classes, childcare and more, the centre offers world-class facilities and a large diverse range of exciting programs and services.
For the past 20 years YMCA Manningham has proudly remained as contract managers of Aquarena.
The successful partnership between YMCA Manningham and Manningham City Council has provided residents with two decades of high quality recreational programs, facilities, services and ongoing capital improvements.
